William Andrew “Bill” Vickery

William Andrew “Bill” Vickery, age 80 of Sneads, FL, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

Bill graduated from Chattahoochee High School in 1964. He sang bass in the Vickery Family Gospel group for many years and had a beautiful voice. In 1980, he met his wife of 45 years, Brenda Joan (BJ) Carroll, and loved her better than life itself. He retired from the Florida Dept of Corrections but had different jobs during his life, including Jitney Jungle in Chattahoochee, FL; selling insurance with his brother, Russell Jr.; Amos Infirmary, fire department, and the powerhouse at Florida State Hospital.

He loved fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Jackson County Sportsman Club for many years. Bill enjoyed building things and keeping his yard clean. He also spent many hours watching basketball and Florida State football. He loved his family and never missed an opportunity to gather with loved ones. In his later years, Bill enjoyed watching America’s Wildest Police Videos and CSI Miami. He always had a puzzle book in hand, and a chew of his favorite apple chewing tobacco.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Vickery Sr. and Annie Nadine Meeks Vickery; brother, Russell Vickery Jr. and his niece, Cathy Jane Erwin. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Vickery; three daughters, Allison Hinson Molsbee of Sneads, Victoria Arnold (Gene) of Chattahoochee, and Audra Vickery of Sneads; two sisters, Maggie Vonne Freeland and Bonnie Tindall, both of Tallahassee; five grandchildren, Kayla McKinnie of Sneads, Anthony Powell of Marianna, Curtis, Aidan, and Nicholas Arnold, all of Chattahoochee; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved.

Funeral services will be 2:00 CST, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Burial will follow in Union Hill Baptist Cemetery, Bonifay, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM (CST) at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
