Shelton Kindig, 87, of Bristol, Florida, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Shelton was lovingly welcomed into Heaven by those who went before him, his parents, Harley LeRoy Kindig and Edna Coker Simpson (Falcon); his father and mother-in-law, Sam and Myrtle Hamilton; his brothers, Homer, Oliver, Alvin, Marvin, and Leonard; and his sisters, Pearl, Vernice, Grace, Marie, and Phyllis. No doubt, it was a joyful reunion.

He leaves behind his greatest blessing and the love of his life, his wife of 69 years, Erma Lee Kindig of Bristol, Florida. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and unwavering commitment, a love story that will continue to inspire all who knew them.

He is also survived by his children, Leroy Kindig (Wanda) of Grand Ridge, Florida; Charlotte Clarke of Bristol, Florida; and Harley Kindig (Missy) of Alpharetta, Georgia. Through them, his strength, values, and love will live on.

His grandchildren, Kristen Lollie (Keegan), Loren “Jaybird” Campbell (Melissa), Megan Campbell, Colby Kindig, and Alex Clarke, were a constant source of pride and joy. His great-grandchildren, Bryce Ray, Gracie Ray, Amya "AJ" Oxendine, and Liam Campbell brought light to his life in a way only they could, filling his later years with laughter, love, and precious memories.

He is also survived by his sisters, Norma Evers, Wynona Rhodes, and Dianne Sheffield (Joe); his sisters-in-law, Eva Howell (Ray) and Bernice Alford (Henry); and his brothers-in-law, Samuel Hamilton and John Hamilton (Laurie), all of whom he loved dearly.

Shelton lived a life that truly reflected his faith. For more than 50 years, he faithfully answered God’s calling as an ordained Assembly of God minister, serving not just from the pulpit but through the way he loved, encouraged, and uplifted others. The churches he pastored, Bascom Assembly of God, Beulah Chapel Assembly of God, Bear Creek Assembly of God, Bristol Assembly of God, and Blountstown Assembly of God, were not just places he served, but communities he poured his heart into.

Even beyond his ministry, Shelton was a proud and dedicated disabled United States Naval Veteran, a testament to his strength, sacrifice, and deep love for his country. He continued to live a life of service, dedicating years as a rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, quietly showing up each day with the same reliability and care he showed in every part of his life.

But more than titles or roles, Shelton will be remembered for the way he made people feel. He had a rare gift for building relationships; he never met a stranger. Whether through a simple conversation, a warm smile, or a joke that left you laughing, he made everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued. He loved hunting and fishing, but what he truly loved was people—spending time with them, listening to them, and bringing joy into their lives.

His presence was steady, his faith was strong, and his love was constant. The space he leaves behind cannot be filled, but the impact of his life will never fade.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gerald Skipper and his staff, Big Bend Hospice, and especially Richard Mims of the Liberty County Fire Department for their compassion, kindness, and care during this time.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church with Pastor Kent Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Goodson, Mark Rhodes, Elton Alford, Brent Baggett, Jason Hamilton, Bryce Ray, and Troy Hall.
