Sharmon Shealy, 59, of Marianna, Florida passed away Monday, September 14, 2026, in Panama City.
She was born July 24, 1967, in Donalsonville, Georgia to Jackie and Sandra Jeter. Sharmon dedicated 30 years of her life to elementary education, and teaching was one of the greatest joys of her life. Over the years, she helped raise and shape countless children, loving them as if they were her own. She was a mother to every child who walked through her classroom door and often continued to be long after they left. Her love for children extended far beyond academics. She cared about who they were, who they would become, and made sure they knew they had someone in their corner. The impact she made over three decades of teaching will live on through generations of students and families whose lives were touched by her. She had a genuine love for children and cherished the many students she had the privilege of teaching throughout the years. Teaching was a calling for Sharmon, and she poured her heart into her classroom and the children who came through it.
Above all, Sharmon was deeply devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and mother, and her family was always at the center of her life. She treasured the time spent together with family and the memories made, especially over one of her home cooked meals. Two places she especially loved were the mountains and the beach.
Sharmon never met a stranger and seemed to make friends everywhere she went. She had a way of forming friendships that lasted, and she truly valued the people who became part of her life along the way. She was especially fond of the friendships and memories made in Mexico Beach. Those friends and those years always held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Bennett Jeter.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Shealy; children, Jake Daniels, Madalyn Daniels, Madison Daniels, Kristina Johnson (Buck); two grandchildren; father, Jackie Jeter (Linda); sisters, Angela Jeter, Susan Proctor (Jason), Jacquelyn Garrett; aunt, Daphene Edenfield; along with many other family members, friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, September 18, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 prior to the service.
For those who would like to, the family invites you to wear pink, Sharmon's favorite color, in her memory.
