Sammy Wilson Deal

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sammy Wilson Deal, who left us on July 24, 2024, at the age of 69.

He was born September 28, 1954, in Dothan, AL to Wilson and Hazel Deal. Sammy was a hard-working, loving man who always made time for his family. Even while working for the Florida Department of Education, he stayed busy with projects around the house and constant yard work. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, watching Florida State Football, and taking long bike rides.

Sammy loved nothing more than spending time outdoors with his family. Whether it was being a member of the “chain gang” at his son’s football games, camping on the west end of Little St. George or taking the boat out with his wife and three labradors, he cherished the time he spent with them outdoors.

Sammy was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Burton Deal; his parents, Wilson and Hazel Deal; and his brother, William Deal. Sammy is survived by his son, Matthew Deal; his siblings and their spouses, Peggy and Bob Mathis, David and Jill Deal, Larry and Joyce Deal; and his nieces and nephews.

Funerial Services will be at 10:00 AM CDT, Saturday, July 27, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Malone, FL with Ed Ham officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home directing.
