Roy Lenard Hill, 78, of Cypress, Florida, died Monday, July 27, 2026, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. He was a member of Inwood Baptist Church and proud of his Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Vera Hill; sisters, Lorine Cooper, Betty Morse, Ann Chyc, Mary Steele, and Ruth Wester; and brothers, Dr. William E. Hill and Raymond Hill.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Gail Hill; sisters, Mattie Braswell and Gail Howell and husband, Roger; brother-in-law, Charlie May, Jr. and wife, Margie and many nieces and nephews.

Roy was born and raised in Jackson County, Florida and grew up one of 10 children. He graduated from Marianna High School in 1966. He served his country for three years in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam and Germany. Roy was proud of his time in the service, where he received several Commendation Medals, including a Bronze Star. After his service in the Army, he returned to Jackson County and attended Chipola Junior College, receiving multiple certifications, including as an auto mechanic. He was a hard worker and loved being outdoors. He often enjoyed fishing with his special friends. He became an avid welder, a skill he learned while in the Army, creating numerous custom items in his shop. After his time n the service, he started working at Florida State Hospital, where he retired after almost 35 years. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was especially fond of the time he and Gail enjoyed babysitting their great-great-nephew and niece, Gunnar, and Gia until they started to school.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Inwood Baptist Church with Pastors Chad Roland and Steve Benefield officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 9 AM until the time of the service at Inwood Baptist Church.
