Ronald Bruner, Sr.

Ronald Bruner Sr., of Marianna, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the age of 92. He passed away from natural causes. He was born in Greenwood, FL, on September 20, 1934, and lived half of his life in Marianna. Ron is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mavis Helms Bruner; mother, Ethel Jenkins Bruner; father, Arthur Ree Bruner; two brothers, Harrell Bruner, Bill Bruner; and sister, Mary Bruner Gisi. Ron is survived by his daughter, Sheila Faust of Broomfield, CO; his daughter, Kathryn Cook (James), Tampa, FL,; his son, Ronald Bruner Jr. (Haley), Freeport, FL; grandchildren, Danielle Herrington, Desiree Williams (Stephen), Kayla Porter (Joel), Trent Cook (Shelby), Jeb Bruner (Carol), and Luke Bruner; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Hannah and Thomas Williams, Carson and Kendall Porter, and Hayden Bruner.

Ron joined the military at the age of 16 and served in the US Army from 1951-1955. He was stationed in Germany.

Ron started Bruner’s Insurance Agency in Tampa, FL, in 1968. The agency grew into 23 different locations throughout the state of Florida. Ron sold the agency in 1979 and retired at the young age of 45. Ron and his family moved to Marianna in 1980.

Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family. He loved many outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, and hunting. He especially enjoyed telling stories about his life (over and over again) and telling “good” jokes. Later in life, he loved watching Judge Judy, Family Feud (Steve Harvey), and visiting with his children. He was involved in many church activities at Eastside Baptist Church, where he was a member. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and all who knew him. 

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the loving staff at Emerald Coast Hospice, their church family at Eastside Baptist Church, caregivers (Tere, Sonya, and Kayla), and their friends and neighbors for all of their time, love, support, and kind care that they gave to Ron and his family. 

A homegoing service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 25, 2026, at Eastside Baptist Church with Pastors Dr. David Beigle and Bill Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church, Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM, until the time of the service.
