Quincy Rudolph Segers, 86, of Cypress, FL, passed away at home on June 4, 2026.
Quincy was born in Macedonia, FL, on March 18, 1940, to Graves Howell Segers and Mary Hand Segers. He attended school in Chattahoochee and Blountstown, graduating from Blountstown High School in 1958.
Quincy then enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1958. He was trained as a medic but served in many different areas of the medical field, including: Contagious Disease Ward, Orthopedic Ward, Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery, Newborn Nursery, Emergency Room, Ambulance Driver, Independent Duty of providing sole medical care for 100 airmen, and much more. He was honorably discharged and retired with 21 years of service as a Master Sergeant in 1979 with the following decorations: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.
Once retired from the military, Quincy returned to school, where he earned his degree as a registered nurse from Gulf Coast Community College in 1982. He continued to work as a licensed practical nurse in different areas while going to school and supporting a large family to whom he was attentive to and caring. After being pinned and welcomed into the nursing profession by his own mother, who was also a registered nurse, he dedicated 20 years to the State of Florida at Sunland before retiring permanently in 2002. He spent his well-deserved leisure time enjoying his books, sports on TV, movies (especially Westerns) and having his family visit.
Quincy is preceded in death by his eldest son, Quincy Alan Segers; his father, Graves Howell Segers; his mother, Mary Hand Segers; brother, Graves Howell Segers Junior; sister, Gwendolyn Segers Deese; and brother, Gerald David Segers.
Quincy is survived by his wife, Ilda Marie Segers; son, Randall and wife Elaine Segers; son, Philip and wife, Colleen Segers; son, Aaron Segers; daughter, Belinda Segers; step-son, Bruce and wife, Valerie Goodwin; step-son, Steve Goodwin; and step-son, John and wife, Kathi Goodwin. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
