Patricia Lorene "Patsy" Newsome

Patrica Lorene “Pasty” Newsome, 71, of Marianna, Florida, passed away on July 9, 2026, following a long illness, with her loving husband by her side.

Patsy was born February 21, 1955, at the old home place in Graceville, Florida, to Limmie Martin Miles and Lillie Mae Dean Miles.

As the youngest of the Miles children, Patsy always held a special place in the family and was cherished by her siblings. The large age gaps in the Miles children created cousins who were like siblings and younger nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Patsy.

Patsy graduated from Graceville High School in 1973, and on August 31st of the same year, she married Don B. Newsome. They were married for 52 wonderful years.

Patsy worked in multiple positions at Sunland Center in Marianna before she retired after 33 years in July of 2018. Patsy especially loved gardening, raising rabbits and growing flowers.

Remaining to cherish Patsy’s memory is her husband, Don Newsome of Marianna, FL; brother-in-law, Ronnie Newsome and wife, Pam of Altha, Florida; sisters-in-law, Lucille Miles of Cottondale, and Judy Miles of Albany, GA, and a slew of nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Preceding Pasty in death are her parents, Limmie Martin Miles, and Lillie Mae Miles; brothers, Artis Miles, Odel Miles, Adel Miles, BH Miles, RL Miles, AC Miles, and Donald "Ray" Miles; and sisters, Mabel Strickland, Maebelle Grantham, and Ann Pippin.

Memorial service will be 2 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Johnnie Miles officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home directing.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.

Family and friends will be gathering at the home of Chris and Karen Bush after the service, at 2632 Dock Road, Cottondale, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patsy’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
