Melissa Gilmore Harris

Melissa Gilmore Harris, age 54, of Marianna, Florida, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at her residence.

She was born March 16, 1972, to Jo Ann and Jim Gilmore in Riverdale, GA. Melissa was always very family oriented and loved nothing more than spending time with them. She cherished time traveling and being outdoors. She was a faithful follower of Christ and read her bible daily.

Melissa was always creative and enjoyed finding ways to express her personality. She loved spoiling her children and grandson. There was no limit to the number of McDonald’s trips she would make for her grandson, Trevor. She was the glue that held her family together and her sweet spirit will be missed more than words can express. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, Gigi, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Shawn Harris; sons, Mickey Hughes and wife, Heather, Clayton Harris; grandson, Trevor Hughes; parents; Jim and Jo Ann Gilmore; brother, Michael Gilmore and wife, Beth; father-in-law, Gaylen Harris; nieces and nephews, Brady, Kayla and Savanna Gilmore; uncle, Montgomery Harrison.

Funeral service will be 4:30 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until time of service.
