Mary Jean Braxton

Mary Jean Braxton, age 84, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Courtyard Healthcare Center in Marianna, FL.

She was born April 13, 1941 to the late Walter H. Braxton, Sr. and Ora Lee Braxton, and was a lifelong resident of Cottondale, FL. Mary Jean worked many years in the family business, Braxton Hardware, Furniture, and Appliances. She then became employed with Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, FL, where she worked approximately twenty years as a licensed practical nurse.

Mary Jean is survived by four sisters, including her twin sister, Jeraldine Braxton, of Pensacola, FL; Elizabeth Braxton, of Pensacola, FL; Alice Tiller of Chipley, FL; and Ella Hinson, and husband, Rudy, of Tallahassee, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Holland Braxton, and wife, Donna, of Grand Ridge, FL. In addition to her siblings, she is survived by four nephews and seven great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 AM, Friday, June 27, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel, with Reverend Donnie Folks officiating. Interment will follow at Lovewood Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
