January 17, 1941 — December 18, 2025

Madelyne Ferguson Baxter, lovingly known as "Granny," age 84, of Malone, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1941, to James Cortez "JC" and Vincy White Ferguson in Early County, Georgia.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Madelyne will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends. In her younger years, she was a talented seamstress; later she was a dedicated cook at several area restaurants, most notably Paramore's on the river in Sneads. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class, sang in the choir, and was a member of the MWU until her health no longer allowed her to remain active.

Madelyne was preceded in death by her parents, James Cortez "JC" and Vincy White Ferguson; as well as two of her sons, James Eddie Segrest, II and Jonathan Andrew "Andy" Segrest; her son-in-love, David Jackson; her daughter-in-law, Marie Segrest, as well as two sisters Iris Ferguson Stockton and Willa Vincy Jordan; three infant sisters and one infant brother.

Madelyne leaves behind one daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Jackson (Jay); and two sons, Jack Segrest and Paul Segrest (Amy). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Daniel Jackson, Michael Bennett (Chelsea), John Thomas "JT" Segrest (Cara), Mary Elisabeth Foley (Brandon), Courtney Anne Miller (Scott), Ashleigh Lynne Segrest, Brandon and Liam Segrest. Her great-grandchildren, who captured her heart and she loved beyond measure, Aubrey and Amelia Bennett, Lorelai Toole, Thomas "T-Rex" Miller, Aubree and John James "JJ" Segrest. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ann Ferguson Melton, and brother-in-law, Virgil Jordan, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
