Reverend James Lee "Jim" Harbert, 89, of Marianna, Florida died Friday, September 5, 2025 at Jackson Hospital.
Jim was born December 14, 1935 to Elsie and Curtis Harbert. He made is life in North Florida and South Alabama, pastoring churches for 50 years. Through his ministry he has served Methodist churches in Altha, Cypress, Kinsey, Blackwood’s and others in Dale and Jackson County, most recently serving as pastor for Grace Methodist and Compass Lake Methodist. He was also a main voice on WTYS and WTOT radio for over 20 years. His love for Jackson County and Southern Gospel music was evident as he hosted Bro. Jim’s Local Gospel Hour every morning at 5:06 and every afternoon at 6:06 and was always ready to fill in as needed in between.
On February 18, 1983 he married the love of his life, Henrietta, affectionally known as Henri. Together they served those attending their churches and built a beautiful life together.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Thomas, Harbert, Eugene Harbert, Jerome Harbert, Elouise Savell, and Billy Harbert.
He is survived by his wife, Henri Harbert; children, Sean Guthrie and Millie Shelley; sisters, Faye Nowell, Judy Haynes and Annette Oleson.
Funeral services will be 12:30 Monday, September 8, 2025 at Grace Methodist Church in Marianna, Florida. Burial will follow at 3 PM at Gardens of Memory, 6200 US HWY 431, Headland, AL, 36345 with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 prior to the service.
