Henry Quincy Carnley of Vernon, FL, age 81, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026. He eased peacefully into God’s arms, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born to Henry and Esther Lou Strickland Carnley on September 25, 1944, and was the youngest of their four children.
Known to his friends and family as Quincy, he was a man of faith and family. He began playing the guitar in the first grade and his passion for playing and singing gospel music flourished. Quincy was a talented writer of Christian music, loved to work on quality vocal harmonies, and was able to play multiple musical instruments. Singing songs of God and His love was Quincy’s greatest love and passion, whether it was in his church’s choir or traveling across the countryside performing with Gospel Quartets.
Quincy spent the better part of his adult life singing southern gospel across the southeast, and was a member of several prominent Southern Gospel quartets such as The Happy Echoes, The Evangels, The Journeymen, The Foundations, and the Bryan Brothers. He recorded albums with several of the quartets he was in, and produced multiple solo recordings in his home’s music studio. In addition, Quincy often performed with his family members including his wife, daughter, and granddaughter, as well as many other close friends and loved ones. Known across the Florida panhandle for his vocal talents, Quincy could bring Heaven down when his smooth, mellow voice began flowing as he sang out praises to his Lord.
When Quincy wasn’t singing, he cherished spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and his favorite hobbies were gardening and fishing. The Holmes Creek area and the Choctawhatchee River basin, were two of his favorite places to enjoy nature and God’s handiwork. He was a true family man and devoted his life and efforts to spending quality time with his family any time he had an opportunity. He was always known as a hard worker, a dedicated family man, and the bright spot in every room he entered.
Quincy was an entrepreneur and owner of multiple businesses, including Quincy’s Heating & Air Conditioning, and Aire Diagnostics. Quincy personally served thousands of residents in the Florida panhandle, from Tallahassee to Pensacola, from the Gulf of America to the Alabama line, and everywhere in between. He was personable, friendly, and compassionate to his customers, and ran his companies using the credo of “a good name will follow you, but a bad name will outrun you”.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elouise Warren, Winfred Carnley, and Mamie Arzy.
Quincy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Regena Carnley; children, Karen Mashburn (Keith), Keith Carnley, Kelley Ward (Scott), Chris Brock (Melissa), Candice Hodges (Steven); grandchildren, Nikki (Aaron), Sara (Sam), Emily, Eric, Wyatt, Kaylee, Avery, Cullen, Brock, Anne Elizabeth, and Win; great-grandchildren, Gigi, Ella, Remi, Elizabeth, and Vanessa.
Celebration of life service will be 11 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Bonifay, FL with Rev. Shelley Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Bonifay.
A private family interment will be in Vernon City Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
