Helen Sue Gulledge, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, in Marianna, Florida. She was born on March 5, 1949, in Danville, Illinois.
Helen Sue is survived by her brother, Howard Gulledge (Sally) of Rockville, Indiana; and her sisters, Bunny Fivecoat of Fruitland Park, Florida, and Cheree Leugers (Jerry) of Carmel, Indiana. She is also survived by her grandsons, Alex Gulledge (Emily) of Greenwood, Florida, and Douglas Gulledge (Aydan) of Monticello, Florida; as well as her great-grandchildren, Henry “Hank” Lee Gulledge, Wyatt Byron Gulledge, and William Angus Gulledge, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lois Margaret Gulledge; her son, Jeffrey Gulledge; and her brother, Donald Gulledge.
Helen graduated from Northwest High School in Indianapolis and later earned her degree from the Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She devoted more than 35 years of service to the Veterans Administration healthcare system, serving in hospitals in Indianapolis, Tampa, Orlando, and Tallahassee, Florida.
She leaves behind a family and many friends who loved her deeply and will miss her dearly. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched during her tender care of the veterans at the medical facilities where she worked.
Helen Sue’s wonderful sense of humor will be truly missed and lovingly remembered.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marianna, Florida, for their years of compassionate care and support.
James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In accordance with Helen’s wishes, no visitation or formal funeral services will be held.
