Gloria Jacqueline “Jackie” Hasty Carroll, 88, of Marianna, Florida, fully entered the presence of the Lord on October 24, 2026, in her home with her family by her side.

Jackie was born at home in Webb, AL on October 23, 1938, to J.C. and Ouida Hasty. Her family moved to Dellwood, Florida, from Columbus, GA when she was a child, where they farmed a square mile while also running Hasty’s Fish Camp on Meritt’s Mill Pond.

She graduated from Marianna High School in 1956, then attended and graduated from Chipola Junior College, followed by Troy State College (now Troy State University) earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in business. While there, she was crowned the Cotton Ball Queen and Miss Troy State College. After graduation, she taught high school physical education in Chattahoochee and later in Cottondale, and after coming home to raise her children, she taught private piano lessons for more than 50 years.

Jackie married the love of her life, Dr. Richard Earl Carroll, in 1961. They were married for almost 58 years. Together they built a beautiful life devoted to the Lord and modeled their faith to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jackie has been a member of Cypress Baptist Church for most of her adult life and spent a majority of those years as the pianist there. She was an active member of the Gideons International Auxiliary alongside her husband for over 52 years. She and her husband went on many mission trips together throughout the years, locally and abroad. She volunteered at the Pregnancy Center of Marianna for approximately 15 years. She and her husband also helped establish Dayspring Christian Academy.

She loved swimming in the millpond with her children and grandchildren, camping in the Great Smokey Mountains with her family, and traveling the world with her husband. She also loved preparing home cooked meals which usually included her signature fried cornbread and congo squares for dessert. When the holidays came around, so did her famous buckeyes. Another favorite activity was playing cards, specifically Canasta, with her siblings and their spouses. She had a love for the arts and enjoyed playing the piano and painting. She was an amazing artist and created countless paintings throughout the last 30 years.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Ouida Hasty; her beloved husband, Dr. Richard Earl Carroll; son, John Carroll; son, Philip Carroll; grandson, Jakin Caraway; great-grandson, Gabriel Ashworth; and great-granddaughter, Palmer Kneiss.

She is survived by her son, Mark Carroll (Wen) of Dothan, Alabama; daughter, Lydia Kneiss (Chris) of Chipley, Florida; and daughter, Ouida-Marie Caraway (Brent) of Marianna, Florida; brother, Royace Hasty of Chipley, FL, sister, Marcia Hill of Auburn, AL; and brother, Bradford Hasty of Grey, TN.

Jackie is also survived by 15 grandchildren:  Hannah Carroll Ashworth (Aaron), Brenna Kneiss, Rebekah Carroll Owen (Dane), Caleb Carroll, Jesse Kneiss (Courtney), Joshua Carroll (Carey), Marshall Kneiss (Sydney), Emma Caraway Godwin (Dalton), Lila Caraway, Kaylee Kneiss, Adly Caraway, Aaron Kneiss, Amos Kneiss, Brailee Kneiss, and Boone Caraway.

She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren:  Caroline Ashworth, Augustine Owen, Judah Ashworth, Elias Ashworth, James Owen, Laney Ashworth, Heidi Carroll, Foster Kneiss, Ada Carroll, Eliza Leigh Carroll, Valley Kneiss, Oliver Kneiss, and Micah Ashworth.
