George Adkins, Jr.

George Adkins Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as "June," "Doc," "Papa," or "Pop," passed away on November 7, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born in Calhoun County, Florida, George was a lifelong resident of Marianna. He was a hard worker who truly enjoyed farming his whole life. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, found great joy in working outside, and liked watching old westerns.

Beyond his dedication to his work and hobbies, George was a deeply devoted family man. He shared a beautiful life with his family and leaves behind a powerful legacy of perseverance, resilience, and quiet strength. To his grandchildren and those closest to him, he was the steady heart of the family—a beloved figure whose wisdom and warmth will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of all those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Adkins and Phronie Marie Baggett; his son, Greg; his daughter, Stacy; his brothers, William D., Pete, Billy, and Jimmy; and his sister, Doris.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Doris Adkins; his son, Keith and his wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Greg, Marissa, Katelyn, Hayden, Hayley, and Hunter; his brothers, Bobby, Buddy, Carl, and James Earl; and his sister, Ann; brothers-in-law, Larry Carnley and Jack Barwick; special friends, Bud Baggett, Larry Baggett, Franklin Edenfield; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Pastor James Barwick officiating. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Marianna, Florida, with James & Sikes Funeral Home directing. 

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service.
