Evelyn “Earline” Pettis was born October 21, 1941, in Bonifay, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Ocie Moore and the late Earnestine Singletary Moore.
She married the love of her life, Rev. Louie D. Pettis on January 13, 1957, and from that day forward, they were inseparable.
Their passion for Christ and people led them into a life of ministry. They evangelized for many years before taking on full-time pastoral roles with the Assemblies of God. They had a passion for seeing lives changed through ministry and preaching the Word of God. They pastored at Oakland Assembly of God, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Shady Grove Assembly of God, in Baker, Florida; and Jay Assembly of God in Jay, Florida. During their ministry, they had the honor of mentoring many young ministry couples who are now impacting their communities. Their passion for the Lord and sharing the Word of God was evident in every aspect of their life. Although Earline was rarely behind a pulpit, her dedication to her husband and service to the Lord was always profound.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Pettis is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Louie D. Pettis; one grandson, Justin Pettis; sisters, Mary Ann Bearden, Frankie Everett and brothers, Junior Moore and Olen Moore.
She is survived by her two sons, Rev. LaVon Pettis and wife, Brenda; Rev. Steve Pettis and wife, Regina; two siblings, Jewel (Horace) Covington and Jimmy (Bonnie) Moore; five grandchildren: Hannah (Brad) Hamby, Lauren (Marcus) Maxwell, Chelsey (Christian) Chaney, Jenna (Garrison) Strahan, Ethan (Makayla) Pettis; and nine great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jake, Tripp, Tucker, Emerson, Edyn, Aislyn, Ella, and Everly.
