Dorothy Howell

April 5, 1935 — June 1, 2025

Dorothy Grace Howell, 90, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born April 5, 1935, in Grand Ridge, FL to Gaston B. and Beulah Bullock Hill.

She received her AA from Chipola College, and then married the love of her life, Jack Howell, on January 6, 1956. Together, they raised four children and faithfully served the Lord in ministry for over 60 years.

She loved the Lord and fulfilled many roles in various churches. Although, she rarely stood behind a pulpit, she ministered for over 60 years as a devoted pastor’s wife. Dorothy was a faithful member of Sneads Assembly of God, where she also served alongside Jack, until his passing. She and Jack pastored and led many churches, but El Bethel was always called “home” as that is where she and Jack began serving the Lord together.

In 1979 she received her favorite title of Nana and cherished each and every person who called her by that name. After Jacks passing, she began working for James & Sikes Funeral Home, Sneads Chapel. Dorothy truly loved people and enjoyed any time she was able to encourage or pray for someone.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack Clinton Howell Sr.; and her parents, Gaston and Beulah Hill.

She is survived by her children, Clinton Howell (Lorelie), Tim Howell (Jana), Lucy Fontenot (Johnny Ray), and Gary Howell (Christy); 13 grandchildren, Clint Howell (Lenise), Derek Howell (April), Sheresa Howell, Michael Gossett, April Howell, Sara Hall (fiancé, Ryan Smith), Wyatt Howell (fiancé, Anna-Lisa), Autumn Cruzado (Luis), Mikayla Russ (Ethan), Mitchel Fontenot (Micah), Tyler Howell (Mckenzie), Judah Howell (Courtney), Charis Rosado (Yarian); 27 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; three sisters, Faye Livingston, Pat Lancaster and Lenora Vismor; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Morgan and Barbara Matthews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at El Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 CST prior to the service.

Special thanks to those who were there for mom during the last few years and especially the past few days: Courtyard Healthcare Center, Emerald Coast Hospice, and cousin, Paula Faith Dozier.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Sneads Assembly of God Church or El Bethel Assembly of God Church.
