Donald Eugene Johnson, 90, of Grand Ridge died Monday, May 25, 2026, at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation. He was born to Dorothy Ethel Goodwin and CJ Johnson on April 9, 1936. Donald was raised in Grand Ridge, Florida on his family farm, a place he loved and returned to and raised his family.
After high school in 1954, he joined the army, and shortly afterwards married the love of his life, Shirley Cook. He retired from the State of Florida where he held several positions including working with entomologist with the University of Florida, and the University of Florida Experimental Station. He made his living farming and loved the outdoors, gardening, propagating plants and very proud of his jelly making skills. He was a devoted Christian man and loved his church family of Grand Ridge Baptist Church for over 50 years.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Shirley Cook; parents, Dorothy and CJ Johnson; and son, Michael Donald Johnson (Patsy).
Donald is survived by his sisters, Judy (Rick) Jeter of Atlanta, Patrica Jackson of Grand Ridge, and Linda Sue White of Altha. Children: Ronnie (Susan) of Bristol, Tammy (Jim) Dean of Marianna, Kevin (Niki) of Grand Ridge. Grand Children: Jessie (Michael) Caughran, Crystal Blighton, Regina Varn (Keith), LuAnn Bedley, Sierra (Josh) Web, Payton Johnson, Brian Dean, James Johnson, Montana Johnson, Jeremy Terry, Jordan Terry, and 22 Great Grand Children.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Grand Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Caron Harn officiating. Burial will follow in Waldroff Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends at 9:00 AM at the church.
