Betty Gayle Fuqua

Betty Gayle McDonald Fuqua, 90, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

She was born January 23, 1935 in Caryville Florida to William Howard McDonald and Bonnie Ellis. She was the oldest of nine siblings. Betty married the love of her life Garland Fuqua on March 6, 1954 and together they were blessed with three sons.

Betty loved her family immensely. Spending time with them and creating a welcoming, festive home decorated for each holiday was always something she cherished. Betty enjoyed making special memories down to the smallest detail.

Her hobbies were fashion, beauty, listening to music, karaoke, dancing, going to concert’s traveling, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Wendel and Zeke; sister, Lorraine; and granddaughter, Kristy.

Betty is survived by her sons, William Fuqua, Garland Fuqua and wife, Debra, Russell Fuqua; grandchildren, Amy Holt, Jamie Fuqua, Nicole Bizzell, Miranda Fuqua, Randell Fuqua, Garreth Fuqua, Josh Fuqua, Jason Fuqua, Justin Fuqua , Russell Fuqua Jr., 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Loren Hill, Billy Hill, Jerry Hayes, Jimmy Hayes, John W. Hayes; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Funeral service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, May 21, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Chaplin Gino Mayo officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the time of service.
