    Gene Rodney Peacock

    February 12, 1935 - January 22, 2022

    Gene Rodney Peacock, 86, of Marianna, Florida died Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Marianna Health and Rehab.   He was born on February 12, 1935 in Marianna to Levi and Pauline Peacock and lived most of his life in Marianna where he helped his parents at the Peacock Hotel and Gas Station.  After he graduated from high school, Gene enlisted in the National Guard, he then transferred to the Air Force.  While in the Air Force his duties included radar operator and electrician.  He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on August 7, 1960.  Gene attended Chipola Junior College and Florida State University where he graduated with a B.S. Degree.   Gene moved his family to Live Oak, Florida where he worked with the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch as an Industrial Arts Instructor.  Gene and his family moved back to Marianna, Florida and continued his work with the State of Florida under the Division of Family Services.  He held many positions during his career with the State of Florida.  He later retired as an aging adult protective investigator. After retirement, he devoted his time to family, church and spending time outdoors.  One of the trips he enjoyed was driving out west and visiting the national parks in Utah.  Gene enjoyed volunteering with Covenant Hospice, Meals on Wheels, church activities and the DAV. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Pauline Peacock, of Marianna; brothers, Jack Peacock, Roy Peacock, Bill Peacock, infant boy Peacock; sister, Pauline Purvis and his first wife, Shelta Jean Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Doris Leona Peacock of Marianna, sons, Rodney Peacock (Terry) of Crawfordville, FL; Wes Sexton (Lisa) of Sneads, FL, Jake Sexton of Marianna; daughters, Rhonda Noe (Ernest) of Dawsonville, GA, Jennifer Pumphrey (Al) of Marianna; grandchildren, Jennifer Forstmane (Kristaps) of Crawfordville, FL, Holly Davis (Al) of Auburn, AL, Seth Noe (Alexandra) of Weslaco, Texas, Sarah Robinson (Ethan) of Flowery Branch, GA, Hannah Grigsby (Dakota) of Grand Ridge, FL, Abby Pumphrey of Marianna, Kaitlin Sexton of Lynn Haven, FL, Breanna Sexton of Sneads, FL; great-grandchildren, Kristine Forstmane, soon to be baby Walker, Levi and baby Noe. A funeral service honoring Gene Peacock will be at 2:00 on Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.   The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, MacKinnon Hall.   Donations may be sent to the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch, 1813 Cecil Webb Place, Live Oak, FL  32060, 1+ (386)-842-5555.
